The M.I.C Gala

A 13-page absurdist takedown of the Military Industrial Complex

1st Place - NYC Midnight Short Screenwriting Contest

Logline: A naive political aide stumbles into an elite "charity auction" only to discover that the catalogue is full of military-grade weapons.

I wrote The M.I.C. Gala for NYC Midnight's 2024 Short Screenplay Contest, where it secured 1st place in the Political Satire heat and earned me a spot in the semi-final round.

There is NEVER enough money for education, healthcare, or student debt forgiveness, but there is ALWAYS enough cash in the coffers for hellfire drones and long-range missile defense systems.

It makes you wonder…where’s all that money coming from?

The M.I.C. Gala blends the heavy satire of films like Dr. Strangelove and The Death of Stalin with the absurdity of modern cartoons like American Dad and Archer. While written as an animated piece, the story can work efficiently as live-action with a cast of characters similar to Schitt's Creek.
